Torus is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Alcock as Director of Developments & Sales.
Bringing nearly 20 years’ experience to the role, Steve has a wealth of experience in the housing sector, having delivered numerous significant development and regeneration projects across the country.
With a degree in Planning and Development, Steve is passionate about regenerating previously developed land and buildings to create low impact, high quality sustainable developments that improve the environment for local communities.
Over his career, Steve has worked in both the private and public sectors and has experience working for Bolton MBC, Keepmoat Homes and specialist developer P J Livesey Group with a track record of delivering major redevelopment projects which often incorporated intelligent, pioneering solutions to localised problems.
Discussing his appointment, Steve said:
“I believe wholeheartedly that where people live and the place they call home impacts their life chances and opportunities, which is why building safe, modern homes that promote, protect and enhance people’s wellbeing is incredibly important for the health and welfare of our communities.
“Building homes and places where people want to live, which are well thought out, feature ample greenspace, support a more energy efficient way of living and reduce reliance on cars have proven mental and physical benefits. They are tangible ways of improving regions and I feel incredibly privileged to be in a position to make a real difference to people’s lives.”
Joining Torus at such a crucial time to support its ambitious development programme and continue its mission of building over 5,000 homes by 2024, Steve’s focus is on increasing the breadth of the Group’s influence across the North West.
“Torus has ambitious growth plans and is really challenging the traditional housing market with its extensive mix of housing types and tenures – many of which are affordable and actively working towards fixing the national housing crisis – which really attracted me to the role.
“Not only that, but the Group intelligently triangulates local data, identifies local need and builds the type of homes that are needed, exactly where they’re needed. This can be clearly seen in multiple schemes completed by the Group such as The Maples in Kirkby and most recently, in its proposed concepts for Melwood.”
The North West’s largest provider of affordable homes and strategic partner of Homes England, Torus will invest over £2.5 billion in homes over the next 10 years.
“With the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic far reaching and still largely unknown in the long-term, it is vital that we continue building to not only reinvigorate the local and national economy, but so homes that cater to the changing needs of our communities’ and future homeowners, are available.
“There is no doubt that living through the Coronavirus Pandemic has altered how people view and use their homes and we must build with people in mind. So, alongside working towards incorporating more energy efficient technologies and processes into our homes and construction methods, together with creating sustainable communities with homes designed for modern living, we will also be preserving as much greenspace in our developments as possible. We will build homes that maximise the use of natural light and feature multi-use spaces that can be used as a home office, exercise or activity space.
“I’m looking forward to contributing to Torus’ growth plans and being a part of a team that makes a real impact to the communities’ it operates in. Torus is already branching out from its traditional heartlands of Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington, so I’m excited to see where my tenure in the role of Director of Developments & Sales not only takes me, but the organisation too.”
Steve Coffey, CEO of Torus Group, said:
“It’s fantastic to welcome Steve to the role. He has some great ideas for how to push the Group forward and I, for one, am looking forward to working with him closely to continue building great homes for the people of the North West, which are affordable, modern and developed with the future in mind.”
