As a provider of supported housing for older and vulnerable people, Torus are proud to support the fourth national ‘Starts at Home’ day on Friday 30 August, to celebrate these vital services.
‘Starts at Home Day’ is run by the National Housing Federation, which represents social landlords to around 6 million people, celebrates the help hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people receive to gain their independence and confidence and to live secure lives through supported housing.
These vital schemes provide homes for older people and people with disabilities to live independently. They also include emergency refuge and support for victims of domestic violence to help stabilise and rebuild their lives, accommodation and support for homeless people from veterans and refugees – moving them from life on the street into a settled home, education, training or employment, and much more.
Torus is now joining the National Housing Federation and its members, in continuing to celebrate and protect these housing schemes to ensure that every person in Warrington, St Helens and Liverpool who needs extra support has a home to turn to.
Paula Underwood, Torus Group Head of Support Network, said “As an organisation we are committed to helping people remain safe, healthy and happy at home for longer. We do this by offering a variety of services, tailored to individual needs that help our customers remain independent, stay in control of their lives and enjoy a better quality of life.”
