HMS reinvests £1.6 million in Torus Foundation
12 August 2026
HMS, part of the Torus Group, has delivered £1.6 million from its 2025/26 financial year profits to Torus Foundation, supporting its commitment to generating social value, creating opportunities and improving lives across the North West.
As Torus Group’s in-house construction and maintenance contractor, HMS delivers far more than home and neighbourhood improvements. Through the reinvestment of its profits into Torus Foundation, the Group’s charitable arm, the organisation transforms commercial success into lasting social impact, helping people and places thrive.
Since joining the Torus Group in 2019, HMS has channelled £11.8 million into local communities through Torus Foundation, helping to fund a range of life-changing programmes focused on employment, financial inclusion, health and wellbeing, and opportunities for young people.
This latest reinvestment will enable Torus Foundation to continue supporting individuals, families and communities, helping people overcome barriers, build confidence and access the opportunities they need to reach their potential.
Over the last year alone, Torus Foundation has delivered significant outcomes, including:
- 1,083 people supported with tailored information, advice and career guidance through dedicated employment advisors
- 368 people helped into new jobs, including 15 apprenticeships
- 2,000 people taking part in health and wellbeing activities
- 553 customers supported through a dedicated Social Prescribing service
- £3.7 million secured in additional welfare benefits for Torus customers
- 41,450 energy vouchers distributed to households with pre-payment meters at risk of disconnection, worth £2 million
- 47,369 visits by young people to the FireFit Hub
- 14,111 free meals provided to children and young people
John Barrow, Managing Director at HMS, commented:
"Creating positive change in the communities we serve has always been at the heart of HMS. Every repair completed, home improved and project delivered contributes to something much bigger, generating resources that help people improve their lives and access new opportunities.
“We are incredibly proud to make this latest social value contribution to Torus Foundation. The impact achieved over the past year demonstrates the real difference this support makes, and we look forward to continuing to work together to help individuals, families and communities across our region thrive."
Kate Shone, Managing Director of Torus Foundation, added:
"We are extremely grateful for the continued support from HMS. This contribution represents much more than funding – it is an investment in people and our communities.
“Whether helping someone into employment, supporting a family through financial hardship, improving health and wellbeing, or creating opportunities for young people, this support from HMS enables us to continue making a meaningful difference every day. Together, we are building stronger, more resilient communities and changing lives for the better.”
