Government scheme gives tenants access to landlord information

13 October 2026

Tenants can access information about how Torus manages their home under a new Government scheme.

The Social Tenants Access to Information Requirements scheme (STAIRs) makes it easier to find details on areas like property maintenance, spending, decision making and performance.

Tenants can view the information on a new page on the Torus website.

All social housing providers were required to publish information online by 1 October 2026. Tenants will be able to send written requests for information from 1 April 2027.

Why has STAIRs been introduced?

The Government has introduced STAIRs to improve transparency, accountability and tenant involvement across the social housing sector.

Torus is committed to these principles and, before the introduction of STAIRs, already published the majority of the information required by the scheme on its website. The new webpage brings these details together into one place.

By providing this information and complying with STAIRs, Torus ensures that it is transparent, engages with tenants and is held accountable for its work.

This helps Torus to provide tenants with high-quality housing and services.
