Dragon Boat Race fundraising for local hospice

26 July 2023

Congratulations to Torus Group colleagues for taking part in the annual Dragon Boat Race to raise funds for St Rocco’s Hospice. Torus joined 14 north west organisations for a battle of strength and coordination on the River Mersey.

Braving the rain and unpredictable weather, Team Torus Titans finished with a very respectable time of 1 minute and 23 seconds. Zachary Daniels Recruitment were this year’s winners with newcomers Halliwell Jones BMW taking second place and Bike Rowers coming third.

Of course, the day isn’t all about winning, it’s about the fundraising and taking part which counts. Volunteers, colleagues and family were there to provide support and much-needed refreshments and snacks to keep racers going over three heats.

Torus Development Project Manager and Titans dragon boat team captain, Nina Walsh, said:

“It was great to see so many teams take part this year and we had a great day despite the weather. Thank you to everyone who supported on the day or donated to such a vital service and essential support.”

Event Organiser at St Rocco’s Hospice, Charlotte Howard, said:

“Every year, St Rocco’s needs to raise £4.2 million to continue supporting people with life limiting conditions in Warrington and events like the Dragon Boat Race help St Rocco's reach their target.

“A big thank you to Torus for their brilliant fundraising efforts. All money raised will make sure we can continue to provide support for people, both at home and in our hospice.”

Visit JustGiving to make a much-needed donation to St Rocco’s Hospice on behalf of our racers.
