Torus recognised for making homes better and more resilient
06 October 2026
We're delighted to share that Torus has achieved SHIFT Gold accreditation, a national award that recognises housing organisations that are making positive improvements to their homes and communities.
Based on the most recent assessments completed across the sector, Torus was ranked among the highest-performing housing associations assessed.
For our customers, this achievement is really about one thing: continuing to improve the quality of the homes and neighbourhoods we provide.
The independent assessment highlighted the progress we've made in ensuring our homes are safe, comfortable and fit for the future, including:
- More energy-efficient homes
- Homes better protected from extreme weather
- Ongoing investment in improving the quality and resilience of our properties
- Sustainable neighbourhood improvements that benefit local communities
Today, 73% of Torus homes achieve an EPC rating of C or above, while 98% are assessed as resilient to overheating risk and 93% are resilient to flood risk.
Margaret Goddard, Group Assets Director, said: "This recognition reflects years of investment in our homes and communities and the hard work of colleagues across Torus. Most importantly, it demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with homes that are comfortable, well maintained and prepared for the future.
"We're proud of what we've achieved, but we're equally focused on what comes next. We will continue investing in our homes and neighbourhoods so that our customers can see and feel the benefits where they live."
The assessment also identified opportunities for Torus to continue improving, and these findings will help shape future investment in homes, communities and services.
At Torus, we're committed to making sure our customers have homes they can be proud of, and this recognition shows we're making real progress.
