Inspirational women join HMS International Women's Day celebration
06 March 2026
In honour of International Women’s Day, HMS hosted an event to celebrate and inspire amazing women from across the Torus Group.
International Women’s Day, recognised annually on 8 March, is our opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements and leadership of women within our workplace and wider community. It’s a time to recognise their vital contributions, reflect on the progress we have made, and reaffirm our commitment to equal opportunities for all.
Thank you to our speakers for sharing your moving stories with us.
Tara Jones MBE – A true trailblazer in sport, from St Helens Women’s Rugby to becoming the first female Super League referee, opening doors for future generations.
Hannah Cockroft – A multiple gold medal-winning, world record-breaking Paralympian and powerful advocate for inclusion and representation.
Lindsey Burrow – Following the loss of her husband, Rugby legend Rob Burrow, Lynsey is now a best-selling author and has shown remarkable strength in raising awareness of MND and supporting families affected by it.
Nisha Katona – From barrister to founder of Mowgli, Nisha’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when you back yourself and lead with heart.
Finishing the evening was a wonderful performance from local singer Caitlin Price, rounding off what was a really special event!
A special mention to our compere for the evening, and the only man in the room, Pete Emmett.
As well as having a great night, we were also able to raise a phenomenal £4,245 for Everton in the Community.
