Torus Group is thrilled to win Team of the Year at the Housing Heroes Awards 2025.

Organised by Inside Housing, this award recognises the dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the outstanding teams across the Group, including Torus Landlord, HMS, and Torus Foundation.

This award holds significant meaning for the Group as it acknowledges the extraordinary efforts made by colleagues to support tenants and the wider community during the severe Warrington floods on New Year’s Day.

Colleagues sprang into action quickly, leaving their own families and holiday plans behind and they were among the first responders, prioritising tenants' safety in challenging conditions.

The Group’s Warrington office was rapidly established as a triage centre, providing vital assistance that included finding temporary accommodation as well as welfare and financial support.

Paul Warburton, the Group Housing Director, said:

"We understand the disruption and distress that flood damage can cause for our tenants and the community.

“It has been a collective effort, and our colleagues have worked tirelessly since New Year to repair these homes and ensure our tenants receive the support they need."

"It demonstrates our care, resilience, and deep commitment to ensure tenants affected by the flooding feel valued and cared for. We’re proud to win this award and my heartfelt thank you to our incredible teams."

Last week marked a meaningful milestone in the Group’s flood recovery efforts with the successful handover of some initial homes. Homes that have been professionally dried out and repaired will soon welcome tenants back in the coming weeks.

The Inside Housing judges commended the Torus, remarking:

“Fabulous work in a crisis. It’s always a test to see how teams respond to an emergency, and clearly, this team did a grand job. A great advert for the sector.”

Housing Heroes Awards 2025

Celebrating leaders, innovators and changemakers across the sector, the Housing Heroes Awards sit alongside the Women in Housing Awards at Housing 2025, Europe’s largest housing festival.

The winners were announced at Housing 2025 in Manchester on Monday, 23 June.
